Polychrome wooden sculpture depicting the St. Paul resting. The Saint is seated and wrapped in the cloak, with his eyes closed and his hands resting on his sword. St. Paul is often portrayed with a sword in his hand, a symbol of his martyrdom: as he was a Roman citizen, he could not be crucified and therefore he was beheaded with a sword outside the walls of Rome.
Dating: 19th century.
Entirely made of lacquered and carved wood.
