Stunning Victorian gold cross tests as 9kt pink gold with original ribbon.
It is a hollow cross that  measures approx 42mm x 26.75mm x 4mm 

There are a lot legends about crosses with a circle surrounding the top. My favourite is by placing the cross on top of the circle represents Christ's supremacy over the pagan sun.

The front of the cross is highly decorative with leaves and scrolling work. The back is plain and has a couple of dints. The bale attachment has snapped off.

The black ribbon has been stitched at the back of the cross, it measures about 26cm in length. Black ribbon was used for mourning, Many Victorians used black ribbon to stop death spreading to others.
