RUSSIAN ORTHODOX ICON " The Resurrection of Christ ", handpainted, tempera 19 th restored in the 20th century - Cedar tree 

Antique Russian Icon School of the Moscow Golden Ring. Partially restored by masters of the Trinity Sergius Lavra. Icon Name - The Resurrection of Christ
icon painted in the 19 th century - restored at the end of the 20th century 
Icon after a slight renovation. 
Tempera on a cedar board 
dimensions 250×310×16 mm. The icon icon is written flat  board.  Wedges can be seen above and below wedges - these wedges do not allow the icon will bend now after 2 centuries and after restoration the icon has already "petrified" and will not bend anywhere

 
the icon is written on gold - the field of the icon is lined with the thinnest layers of gold. 
The icon is written on gold leaf 
on the edges there is gesso 
The gesso requires more time to harden. Otherwise, the paint can crumble.
