Work horses pulling the plough. Oil on canvas. Signed on the bottom left. The dimensions of the canvas are: 80 cm x 60 cm. Including the beautiful frame, the dimensions are: 99 cm x 80 cm.
Due to his great love for horses and his knowledge of their characteristic features, the Hungarian painter János Viski has become an important European painter of horses. Close to home, but also during his travels to the South American continent, he studied the behaviour and movements of these noble animals which he then captured in his paintings. Viski was born in 1881 in Szokolya in Hungary, studied at the academy under Tividar Zempleny and had his first exhibition in 1913, at the age of 22. He also painted other animals than horses, in addition to landscapes, in his characteristic free-impressionist style.
