Tree bark painting from Asei, Lake Sentani. Kulit Kayu (literally tree skin) is a piece of 'canvas' made with a sheet of tree bark, beaten into canvas and then painted. The tree bark canvases with many fibres are called ‘maro’ or ‘tapa’ in the local language. Tapa canvases are made in Asei, one of the Islands in Lake Sentani region, located about 30 km west of the capital Jayapura. 

You can see fish and lizards on the tapa.
