The chess game represents a certain number of historical characters, including Napoleon, Wellington, Ney and the prince of Orange. 
The pieces were created by artist Philip J. Haythornthwaite, and are composed of a copper base in copper with an enamel band and tin sculptures. 

Magnificent chess is in good condition with documentation and history, an explanation of the battle of Waterloo and a separate explanation for each historical character.

Chess pieces are sitting in a wooden box with its lid serving as a chess board. 
Box / board size: 35 cm x 35 cm x approx. 7 cm high. 
King measures 6 cm, the Queen is 5.5 cm and pawns are 5 cm high. 

Created by Philip J. Haythornthwaite. 
Each piece is carefully designed and made in highly detailed pewter by the famous Franklin Mint. 
Produced by the Museum of Waterloo in 1984 in collaboration with Franklin Mint.
