Tre cuscini in Toile de Jouy - Nantes della prima metà dell'Ottocento (circa 1825) - Cuscino
These three cushions are made up from Toile de Jouy - Nantes fabric and dating back to circa 1825.
The small rectangular cushion is an extra and a present from the seller to go with this lot.
The first cushion. (43cm x 43cm)
It is entitled" la souri échappée ( the escaped mouse ) & "les Marionettes " ( the Puppets).
The young son is obviously trying to catch the escaped mouse with a large stick, to great hilarity of everybody.
On the left is a scene of les Marionettes - the Puppets. ( seventh photo on left) A young man is playing the drums ,whilst the grand parents are caressing the grand daughter.
The second cushion . (28cm x 29cm)
It is entitled " la Bonne Nouvelle -" The Good News ".
The father is reading a letter whilst the daughter and husband are obviously eager and happy to learn and hear the welcome news. On the left is the grandfather , duly content and filling his glass with a pichet of wine. whilst the King Charles dog is resting on his feet under the table. The grand daughter is clasping her hands towards her grandfather.
The third cushion. (20cm x 29cm) La souri échappée.
On this cushion we had to cut away the bottom piece to rescue the main part which we have shown on the first cushion to finally land up with just the families again .
Toile de Jouy often had household and historical themes and were very popular in those
days. Toile de Jouy has had a tremendous resurgence of recent date and is being reprinted again. But I have not seen any of the family gatherings being re printed and maybe certain blocks do not exist any more.
There is a theory about this particular design called Nantes. Some books are of the opinion that it is Toile de Jouy Normandy ,whereas others belief it is called Toile de Nantes.
I have as of recent date a source where I can buy pieces or even small lengths to make into cushions.
However, it is almost impossible to find decent pieces now and in good condition. Most of the original
Toile fabrics have perished due to longevity and over 200 years old.
The cushions are made up by Chantal ,ma couturière . We first have to study each piece and be very careful where to cut the fabric to make up the design as obviously we need to land up with a 'theme" and thus there is valuable waste.
On the first cushion we had to cut away all the surroundings to finally land up with this magnificent
"tableau" and it is such a happy family occasion
All the cushions have envelope opening and backed ,where applicable ,with textured French linen.
The back of the toile is lined with a soft cotton fleece for strength and durability.
Please note the inner pads are NOT included.
We have grouped the three cushion together on a sofa to give you some idea of the magnificent historical
family gatherings.

Questi tre cuscini sono realizzati in tessuto Toile de Jouy - Nantes e risalgono a circa il 1825.
Il piccolo cuscino rettangolare è un extra e un regalo del venditore che accompagna questo lotto.
Il primo cuscino. (43cm x 43cm)
È intitolato "la souri échappée" (il topo fuggito) e "les Marionettes" (le marionette).
Il giovane figlio sta ovviamente cercando di catturare il topo scappato con un grande bastone, per la grande ilarità di tutti.
A sinistra c'è una scena delle Marionette. (settima foto a sinistra) Un giovane sta suonando la batteria, mentre i nonni accarezzano la nipotina.
Il secondo cuscino. (28cm x 29cm)
Si intitola "la Bonne Nouvelle -" La Buona Notizia".
Il padre sta leggendo una lettera mentre la figlia e il marito sono ovviamente ansiosi e felici di ricevere le buone notizie. A sinistra c'è il nonno, visibilmente contento, che riempie il suo bicchiere con un bricco di vino, mentre il cane di re Carlo si riposa sotto il tavolo ai suoi piedi. La nipote tiene le mani giunte verso il nonno.
Il terzo cuscino. (20cm x 29cm) La souris échappée.
Su questo cuscino abbiamo dovuto tagliare via il pezzo inferiore per salvare la parte principale che abbiamo mostrato sul primo cuscino per finire di nuovo solo con le famiglie.
La Toile de Jouy spesso presentava temi domestici e storici ed era molto popolare in quel periodo.
giorni. La Toile de Jouy ha avuto una straordinaria rinascita di recente ed è stata ristampata di nuovo. Ma non ho visto alcun incontro di famiglia essere ristampato e forse alcuni blocchi non esistono più.
C'è una teoria su questo particolare design chiamato Nantes. Alcuni libri sono dell'opinione che sia Toile de Jouy Normandia, mentre altri credono che si chiami Toile de Nantes.
Ho recentemente una fonte dove posso comprare pezzi o anche piccoli pezzi da trasformare in cuscini.
Tuttavia, è quasi impossibile trovare pezzi decenti ora e in buone condizioni. La maggior parte degli originali
I tessuti in toile sono andati distrutti a causa della loro longevità e di oltre 200 anni.
I cuscini sono realizzati da Chantal, la mia sarta. Dobbiamo prima studiare ogni pezzo e fare attenzione a dove tagliare il tessuto per realizzare il design, poiché è ovvio che dobbiamo arrivare a un "tema" e quindi c'è uno spreco prezioso.
Sul primo cuscino dovevamo rimuovere tutto intorno per arrivare infine a questo magnifico
"tableau" ed è un'occasione familiare così felice
Tutti i cuscini hanno apertura a busta e sono foderati, dove applicabile, con lino francese testurizzato.
Il retro della toile è foderato con un morbido pile di cotone per resistenza e durabilità.
