Up for auction are 3 wind-up tin (2 x) and plastic horses with cowboys. You will receive:
--Tin wind-up horse with cowboy and lasso, see details below;
--Tin wind-up horse with Mexican cowboy, see details below;
--Plastic wind-up horse with cowboy. Original late 50s/early 60s Köhler horse, all produced and now a rarity. Made in Western Germany.
History: the tin horses were made with the original tools and molds produced in the 1940s by Georg Köhler (GKN) of Nuremberg, Germany. In the 2000s these tools were acquired by Welby in India and they produced the horses without riders.
The cowboys are orginal US Germany zone handpainted Leyla Masse (composite) figure specifically produced in the 1950s for the Köhler horses. Around 2010 a couple of boxes with these unused figures were discovered in Germany and they remained in storage until 2015, when a US company acquired the last remaining stock and combined the horses and cowboys in a nice set with a limited edition of 50 of each set produced.
Condition: when wound up the horses rear up and start galopping. The two tin horses come with a nice cardboard box and are in mint condition. The figures are handpainted and are attached to the horse back by magnets. They are in excellent shape but as they are handpainted there may be some paint hick-ups. The plastic horse is in mint condition. All wind-up motors work correctly and all three come with a key.
