【Product details】
This Wakizashi from the Muromachi or Edo period is a notable piece attributed to Bishu Osafune Moromitsu, a direct descendant of the prestigious Osafune lineage and said to be the grandson of Kagemitsu and the father of Morimitsu. Moromitsu's works are recognized from the Nanboku-cho period through the early Muromachi period, representing the renowned swordsmiths of the Longboat forge.
Accompanying this blade is a photocopy of its Firearms and Swords Registration Certificate from Tokyo Prefecture, number 328829, as the original will be returned to the authorities. The certificate details are as follows: Type: Wakizashi, Length: 30.5 cm, Curvature: 0.6 cm, with one peg hole, and the signature on the Omote side reads "Bishu Osafune Moromitsu". The certificate was issued on November 16, Reiwa 6 (2024).
The blade collar shows signs of cracks and rust. The blade has some rust and scratches. The white scabbard has developed cracks and minor damage. Please refer to the photos for a detailed assessment of the sword's condition. The habaki has some looseness and moves slightly.
