A single folio page containing the scripture of the Meccan Chapter 3, Al-Baqarah (The Cow) v.83-86 which talks of the Israelites failure to keep covenants and the punishments that will be due. The folio is from a 16th Century Qur'an from the Ottoman Empire, probably Turkey.
The folio consists of 12 lines of continuous text in black nasta'liq and a single illuminated 'Juz' marginal (lower left) indicating the 85th verse of the Chapter. Unusually, it also has a single vertical line of scripture in the left margin where it looks like the scribe has been forced to add a verse. This has created a left hand margin that steps inwards 2/3rd of the way down the page in order to ensure the script is aligned.
There are multiple 'aya' marking the verses within the scripture and diacritical (devotional markings) in red to provide guidance to the devotee.
Please note that shipping costs are not solely the cost of the postal delivery service itself. Included within the shipping price is the work undertaken to prepare the article, for photography, for uploading to Catawiki, for preparation and packaging the article securely and for transporting the article to the postal delivery agent for processing.
