It is a map of Japanese power at that time, from the first Japanese Emperor “Jinmu” to the “Meiji Emperor”. In other words, the maps cover the period from around 600 B.C., when “Emperor Jinmu 神武帝” was in power, to around 1900 A.D., when “Emperor Meiji” was in power.The shape of the country's territory and the name of the country are written in kanji.

The map ends with “Tokugawa”. In other words, it is the “Edo Period. All of Japan is painted “purple”. This is the achievement of “Tokugawa Ieyasu,” who unified all of Japan. Thanks to him, Japan became peaceful, the population of “Tokyo” became the largest in the world at that time, and culture flourished very much. Surrounded by the sea, Japan developed its own culture.

Although this book is very old, the washi is strong and in good condition. This is an interesting volume of historical literature.

First editions from the Meiji era, complete set in three volumes. Although these are over 140 years old, they are relatively clean and beautiful. The many illustrations make them easy to understand. These are wonderful historical documents.
