This remarkable katana is a testament to the enduring craftsmanship of the Echizen Yasutsugu lineage, known for their prestigious role as the official swordsmiths to the Tokugawa Shogunate. Originating from the Edo period, this blade was forged by the second-generation Yasutsugu, a direct descendant and successor of the first Echizen Yasutsugu who was personally appointed by Tokugawa Ieyasu, the most renowned Shogun in Japanese history.
The blade, measuring 71 cm in length with a curvature of 1.7 cm, exhibits a beautiful hamon that showcases the skillful artistry of its creator. It bears the prestigious Tokugawa family crest (aoi-mon).
Certified by the Nihon Bijutsu Token Hozon Kyokai (NBTHK) as a Koshu Tokubetsu Kicho (especially precious) sword, this katana is accompanied by the respective certificate, assuring its authenticity and value.
