A refined ikebana flower basket 花籠 (hanakago), crafted from light-coloured bamboo with black accents.
The basket features a baluster form with a single loop handle. Constructed from very thin strands of bamboo in an open checkered-pattern, accented with black diagonal lines along the base and neck. The handle is made of three strands of bamboo interwoven together to form the handle. It comes complete with a separate bamboo segment vase, a cylindrical container ideal for flower arrangements.
The underside of the basket bears the signature of the artist: ‘Ippô’ 一峯.
Period: Japan –Shôwa period (1926-1989).
Approx. dimensions:
Height 34.5 cm, Width and Depth 16 cm.
In a very good original condition. Shrinkage cracks bamboo container. Please have a look at the photos for a condition reference.
Complete with wooden tomobako 供箱 (storage box) with inscription in black ink.
