The icon of the Holy Annunciation shows the scene in which the Holy Virgin Mary is visited by the Archangel Gabriel (Hebrew - "power of God"), who tells her that she has conceived. The source for the images of the Virgin Mary and the Archangel is the Gospel of Luke (1: 26-38). The event itself takes place in Nazareth in the home of Joseph. Both souls remain on earth, but they are overexposed to divine light.

The meaning of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary is the Joyful and bright news that the Virgin Mary received from the Angel. It is reflected in Christian traditions and in honor of this event on this day it is accepted to help the poor, spread kindness and generously give alms.

The holiday is also called Half Easter. All Christians celebrate - Orthodox, Catholic and Protestant.
