This Sony TC-K555ES is a stereo cassette deck with Dolby B and C noise reduction, it was first sold by Sony in 1982 with a recommended retail price of USD $420 and discontinued 3 years later in 1985.

The main features of the Sony TC-K555ES are: 3 heads and off-tape monitoring, digital linear tape counter with 4 digits, manual tape type selection and capable of handling normal, chrome, ferro-chrome and metal tapes, belt driven dual-capstan transport.

Typical front loading cassette deck with the cassette compartiment located on the left side of the deck. Tape eject is operated mechanically and the cassette needs to be placed with the side to be played facing forward in the cassette well.

Level meters used on the TC-K555ES are generic digital peak reading meters with peak hold for easy adjustment of optimum recording level. Full-logic transport controls used on the TC-K555ES let it respond to the slightest finger contact for fast and effortless transport function selection.

Dolby C-type used in the TC-K555ES provides 20 dB of noise reduction above about 1,000 Hz, fully doubling the amount given by B-type. The 19kHz multiplex pilot slgnal present in FM stereo broadcasts can cause false triggering of the noise reduction system. The switchable MPX filter of the TC-K555ES filters out the pilot signal, and assuring proper Dolby processing of FM stereo programs.

Optical condition unfortunately not as good as advertised. Not an option to add this to my other top components. Would prefer to return item to seller.

Super verpakt, snel verzonden, spijtig dat de volume control intern vervangen is door het verkeerde onderdeel waardoor de loudness en balans niet werken...terwijl er stond "werkt zoals het hoort"...

het apparaat ziet er goed uit ook goed verpakt maar na het aansluiten blijkt dat de potmeter van hard en zacht bij elke aanraking kraakt bij het kavel stond in goede conditie dus iets klopt er niet

Philips Cd player in a good condition as described plus a remote, and it was packed securely in a box to sustain the long trip to Bulgaria. Played two CDs from start to finish and have no complaints.
