The "Bark Crib," designed by Boucquillon & Maaoui in 2018 for Alessi, is a stunning and innovative Christmas crib that reimagines the traditional nativity scene in a contemporary and artistic way. This exquisite piece of holiday decor combines craftsmanship with modern design elements to create a truly unique representation of the birth of Jesus.

At the heart of the "Bark Crib" is a single sheet of stainless steel, meticulously cut and folded to form the stable, the Three Wise Men, the guiding comet, the ox, and the donkey. This continuous figure is not only a testament to the skill of the designers but also a symbol of unity in the nativity story.

One of the most remarkable features of the "Bark Crib" is the Holy Family, which is a movable element within the scene. Crafted from laser-cut steel and adorned with a satin gold finish, the Holy Family takes center stage in the crib, emphasizing their central role in the nativity scene.

This Christmas crib is a harmonious blend of tradition and innovation, making it a standout piece that can be cherished and admired for generations to come. The "Bark Crib" by Boucquillon & Maaoui for Alessi is not just a holiday decoration; it's a work of art that brings the spirit of Christmas to life in a contemporary and meaningful way.

This “Bark Crib” is in a new and unused condition. Delivered with original packaging.

About Alessi:
Alessi, a renowned Italian design brand founded in 1921, has become a symbol of cutting-edge design and innovative craftsmanship, especially in Postmodernism and Contemporary design as well as some Bauhaus objects. Over the decades, it has collaborated with iconic designers such as Alessandro Mendini, Aldo Rossi, Achille Castiglioni, Ettore Sottsass (a founder of the Memphis group), Michael Graves, Marcel Wanders, Richard Sapper, Zaha Hadid, the Bouroullec brothers, Tom Kovac, Toyo Ito, Jean Nouvel, Ron Arad, and Gio Ponti. These collaborations have cemented Alessi's reputation for creating timeless, functional pieces that double as works of art. This marks Alessi’s spot in the design industry with brands like Vitra, Cassina, Artemide/Danese Milano, Kartell, Knoll and Flos which underlined the brands innovation, credibility and quality. The most celebrated design is Philippe Starck's Juicy Salif citrus squeezer, which almost became Alessi’s brand symbol in the minds of design lovers. Alessi's ability to work with groundbreaking figures in the design world echoes the timeless impact of designers like Arne Jacobsen, Eames, Verner Panton and Alvar Aalto whose minimalist approach shares a kinship with Alessi’s sleek designs. Similarly, Pierre Jeanneret, Le Corbusier and Jean Prouvé's dedication to functionalism aligns with Alessi's ethos of merging beauty and utility. This makes Alessi a brand with high impact and rich marriage with fundamental design DNA. More recently, a collaboration with Virgil Abloh's creative agency (famous for their Nike, Ikea art and Louis Vuitton design) infused a fresh, modern sensibility into Alessi’s offerings.

Michel Boucquillon & Donia Maaoui:
Born in Belgium in 1962. In 1988 he won the competition of the chamber of European Parliament in Brussels which signed the beginning of his Architectural and Design career. Designed by Michel Boucquillon and Donia Maaoui, the “Bark” collection was inaugurated in 2015. The designers drew their inspiration from their home, Casa Boucquillon: it is a place for experimentation, meditation and work where they can live in synch with nature. The perforated pattern of the “Bark” range recalls the bark on the trees that surround the house. Michel actually works for the world most famous International Design companies: Artemide, Antonio Lupi, Ferragamo, Serralunga. His work is present in several Museums and got many of the main international Awards, recently: Menzione d’Onore Compasso d’Oro 2011, Good Design Award 2008, Design Plus 2006. Donia Maaoui, Michel’s wife and an architect herself, works alongside her husband on some of the Alessi and Martinelliluce projects, although her principal occupation is cast bronze sculpture and painting.

Ik heb het gekocht omdat ik weet dat mijn vrouw het heel mooi en goed vindt en ik weet dat ik daarmee punten heb gekregen maar stiekem vind ik het zelf ook wel heel mooi en het is kwaliteit!
