Two legendary poet-monks of Tang Dynasty, China.
Both of them are said to have transcended the mundane world with
their many eccentricities, and to have written many poems.
The image of Kanzan opening a sutra scroll and Jittoku holding
a broom is the subject of a Zen painting.

Overall: vertical 189.0㎝ × width 30.8㎝ (74.41 in × 12.13 in) *width does not include roller ends.
(the work: vertical 118.0㎝ × width 21.0㎝ (46.46 in × 8.27 in))

Condition
・There are burns, stains, wrinkles, floats on the Japanese paper on the back of the cover.
・There are some burns, stains on the image.
・There are burns, stains, wrinkles, warp in the mounting.
A letter from Shoko himself is included.

Remarks
・Roller ends is Wooden.
・Tomo-Bako (Box inscription by the artist).

All of them are made of silk.

Tanomura Shoko (1879-1910)

Painter of the Meiji era.
His real name was Naotaro.
Born in 1879.
Studied literati painting under his grandfather, Chokunyu Tanomura, and his father, Shosai.
Died in 1910 at the age of 32.
