Da collezione personale, rara fotoincisione (photogravure) nei toni seppia dello studio fotografico L&L del Cairo, originale del 1929 dal titolo: -The Mosque of Sultan Hassan- splendidamente incisa su carta spessa.

La fotoincisione presenta alcuni segni leggeri come da foto.

La società formata dal fotografo austro-ungarico Rudolph Lehnert (1879-1948) e dall'uomo d'affari tedesco Ernst Heinrich Landrock (1878-1966), che decisero di aprire uno studio a Tunisi probabilmente già nel 1904, è più esattamente documentata a partire dal 1910 e, già nel 1914, con lo scoppio della prima guerra mondiale e l'arresto di Lehnert accusato di spionaggio, era stata costretta ad interrompere l'attività. Dopo la guerra e con il dissequestro del negozio, l'attività della società Lehnert & Landrock venne ripresa, ma con il suo trasferimento al Cairo e con un maggiore impegno, nel corso degli anni Venti, di carattere editoriale, mirato anche alla produzione di stampe e cartes-postales per turisti occidentali e pubblicazioni che contribuirono a diffondere un'idea del Nord Africa e dell'Oriente di stampo colonialista. La produzione di questo studio si distingue, tra altro, per il largo uso, ancora negli anni Venti, dei diversi procedimenti fotografici che erano stati praticati nel periodo del pittorialismo (stampe al carbone, stampe ai pigmenti, carte salate, oltre alle gelatine virate e il frequente ricorso alla stampa fotomeccanica, in fotoincisione o fotolitografia).

From a personal collection, rare sepia-toned photogravure by the L&L photographic studio in Cairo, original from 1929 entitled: -The Mosque of Sultan Hassan- beautifully engraved on thick paper.

The company formed by the Austro-Hungarian photographer Rudolph Lehnert (1879-1948) and the German businessman Ernst Heinrich Landrock (1878-1966), who decided to open a studio in Tunis probably as early as 1904, is more precisely documented from 1910 and, already in 1914, with the outbreak of the First World War and the arrest of Lehnert accused of espionage, had been forced to interrupt its activity. The production of this studio is distinguished, among other things, by the widespread use, still in the 1920s, of the various photographic processes that had been practiced during the period of pictorialism (carbon prints, pigment prints, salted papers, as well as toned gelatins and the frequent use of photomechanical printing, in photoengraving or photolithography).
