Having taken over his father-in-law's liquor factory around 1860, Paul Clacquesin, a pharmacist and herbalist, invented an aperitif drink which would bear his name: Le Clacquesin. In 1900, the drink won a medal at the Universal Exhibition and the success was such that the initial manufacturing site, rue duDragon in Paris is no longer enough to satisfy demand. In 1903, the Clacquesin factory moved to Malakoff, then called “Little California”, on a plot of 4,000m². It is at the gates of Paris and Little California that this great aroma with a strength of 40% will be bottled in the 70’s. This great aroma comes from the French West Indies. Today, great aromas are highly sought after, whether they come from the French West Indies, Jamaica or even Reunion Island.
