Stibnites from Wuning are a true modern mineralogical classic, this mine having produced the biggest and thickest examples seen since the last Japanese specimens came out, and unlike this last ones, displaying incredible luster and shape consistently through the mineralized production zone, having been depleted since 2004.
This piece came from these original finds around mid-2003, showing a very interesting monolithic-like composition unique from other similar examples of stibnite wands thanks to the bent area on the termination and it's balanced thickness along the crystal that does not make it look too heavy or too thin but rather just right. Also of note is that the mirror finish of the piece transitions rather drastically to a gun metal finish towards the back of the piece and that there is a bit of edge wear on the two corners to the right and three small contacts/breaks, two on the sides and one very small one in the termination, still tho not out of the ordinary for these specimens since most of these pockets were breached with explosives.
