A total of 164 chromolithographed plates.
Quarter red morocco, marbled boards, spines gilt. Superb binding, fully and properly restored.
Born in 1828 in Montpellier, Vincent Paulet grew up in a military family environment. He obtained a bachelor's degree in letters and sciences, then he studied medicine in his hometown, including clinical surgery and anatomy assistantship (1851). Opting for a career in arms, Paulet returned to Val-de-Grâce, defended his medical thesis – on cholera in Arles – and participated in the Crimean War. He became an associate professor at Val-de-Grâce (1851), where he met Jules Adrien Charles Sarazin. The latter, born in 1831 in Calais, is a medical major in the Emperor’s Hundred Guards squadron. The two men decided to draft the Traite together, but the Italian War interrupted the project. After various assignments, Paulet was appointed chief physician at the Charité hospital in Lyon and professor of anatomy at the faculty of medicine (1877). As a medical inspector, he directed the Health Service in Algiers and Marseille, then moved to Montpellier (1885) where he completed his university career (1898). Paulet died in 1906 of an incurable illness, shortly before his friend Sarazin – who died in 1906 in Marseille.
In 1870, The Prix de medecine et de chirurgie de la Fondation Montyon was awarded to the authors of this book (BMJ 23 Juily 1870);

Visualizza traduzioneNo book, no money! Loss 500 Euro. Seller did not enter an email address. Because of the lack of mail, I could not receive the shipment. CATAWIKI failed!
Visualizza traduzioneWe experienced a problem here. The buyer was not at home to receive the book. For some reason or other, the book seems to have been returned. The buyer asked me to enquire with Colissimo, which I did. I asked him to help me by showing me an 'avis de passage' that is a note from the postal services to him, left when he was not at home. He refused this. I am sorry indeed, very sorry, to get a red mark -- my first -- but feel that I did all that I could. I certainly feel the frustration of the buyer. My apologies. Mike
