Montiano is one of the most famous labels produced by the Cotarella family cellar. It is a very prestigious red, intense and soft, made with 100% Merlot grapes. The lands of Tuscia have been suited to viticulture for centuries, and the particular microclimate of the area allows the Bordeaux vine to reach full maturity, with elegant fruity aromas and a particularly sweet profile, which well represents the best characteristics of this exceptional grape .

The Montiano red is the fruit of one of the most innovative estates in central Italy. The Cotarella family has been a protagonist of the Italian wine scene for several decades, thanks to the winemaking activity carried out by the brothers Renzo and Riccardo. The estate is managed by the new generation, who carries on the tradition with passion and competence. The Merlot grapes come from the company's vineyards of approximately 15 years of age, located in Montefiascone and Castiglione in Teverina at an altitude of 300 meters above sea level. The soils are of ancient volcanic origin, rich in mineral and skeletal elements. The harvest takes place in the first weeks of September. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, with maceration on the skins for a dozen days and with a draining of 15% of the must. The wine matures for a period of 12 months in new French oak barriques from Allier and Never.

Montiano wine, produced by the Cotarella family, is the synthesis between a great terroir, a noble Bordeaux grape and the profound winemaking culture of a great brand. In an area traditionally cultivated with white grapes, Merlot has found a very favorable habitat to express itself at high quality levels. It has a dark ruby red color and expresses an elegant and complex bouquet, characterized by hints of vanilla and sweet spices, aromas of small dark berries, currants, blueberries, blackberries, and nuances of medicinal and balsamic herbs. Harmonious and persuasive, it has a subtle and velvety tannic texture, well integrated with fruity, rich, broad and soft aromas. The finish is persistent and balanced.
