Colour lithograph poster by Ethel Reed (1874-1912) advertising a romance novel entitled 'The Quest of the Golden Girl' by Richard Le Gallienne, from Les Maîtres de l'Affiche, plate 128, published by Imprimerie Chaix, July 1898.

Publication information on lower left margin, and blindstamp of the publisher lower right.

There is a little discoloration around the image where a mount has been removed and there is a narrow tear along the upper right edge of the sheet. Around all four edges on the verso side there are remnants of adhesive tape with which the sheet was attached to a mount. Otherwise fine condition.

Ethel Reed was an American graphic artist who moved to London in the 1890s, where she enjoyed critical acclaim for her work, contributing to publications such as ‘The Yellow Book’, co-founded by Aubrey Beardsley. Her career among the literary and artistic world of early 20th century London was short-lived however, and she turned to drugs and alcohol, which probably led to her early death in 1912.

Sheet size: 38.3 x 28.8 cm
Image size: 30.5 x 19.9 cm

Very nice item, as described, well packaged. The shipping by PostNL took too long and was the usual unreliable mess in terms of communication.
