Measuring 60cm tall by 41cm wide with a 2cm depth

Handmade wooden frame with hand stretched hessian plaster coated material which is then sealed with a paint base coat.

'Late Night Drive' was inspired by the serenity of driving through empty city streets at night.
Painting deep blues, greens, and black I tried to capture the stillness of the night. Hints of red and turquoise break away from being overly somber, symbolizing the distant, sporadic lights of stop signs, brake lights and illuminated buildings.

Clean lines give a sense of order and quiet found on a late-night journey. I hoped for the white lines between the colours to act like the lanes of a road for the eye to travel along. Like a car navigating quiet city streets.
