Prince Friedrich Wilhelm of Hohenzollern-Hechingen and Karl Anton of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen
The founders of the House Order of Hohenzollern
The Kingdom of Prussia took possession of the principalities of Hohenzollern-Hechingen and Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen by state treaty in 1849 and thus incorporated them into its territory.
The House Order of Hohenzollern, founded in 1841 by Princes Friedrich Wilhelm of Hohenzollern-Hechingen and Karl Anton of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen, was renewed by King Friedrich Wilhelm IV of Prussia on January 18, 1851, thus adding it to the ranks of Prussian orders. The House Order was awarded for services to the royal house, especially to clergy and people from the arts and sciences.
The Commander's insignia is a gold-framed, black enamelled eagle with a golden crown, looking to the left. Its wings are spread. On the chest you can see the Hohenzollern coat of arms, a black and white quartered shield with a gold border. In its claws the eagle holds a golden sceptre on the left and an imperial orb on the right. The eagle's head is surrounded by a blue enamelled and gold-framed ring, which shows the order's motto "FROM THE ROCK TO THE SEA" in gold letters. There is an eyelet at the highest point of the ring.
You will receive this order as a museum reproduction true to the original.
