A fantastic and very wide (177.6 cm) wooden mizuya-style dressoir, crafted in a single section and fully restored, cleaned, and waxed in Japan.
The frame is made from precious Japanese hinoki cypress wood, while the drawer faces are crafted from 'Keyaki' wood (Zelkova - Japanese oak) and the side panels from sugi (cedar) wood. It has been varnished in a sought-after warm brown hue, a colour we refer to as ‘golden oak.’
This impressive cabinet features 12 small drawers, a pair of sliding doors with horizontal bars, and a hinged door adorned with lozenge latticework lined with washi paper. The drawers are fitted with sturdy iron ‘warabite’-shaped bail handles, and the hinged door includes a small lock, complete with a key that functions in the old fashioned Japanese way, not very smooth.
The sides are also fitted with sturdy horizontal beams.
Period: Japan – Meiji period (1868-1912).

Height 84.4 cm, Width 177.6 cm, Depth 46.6 cm.
The cabinet is in very good restored condition with minimal expected traces conform age. Please see the photos for a condition reference.
