In 1992, Pelikan launched a new series of pens, the body made of high-quality metal in a design that was considered classic: the 'New Classic'. Like the Signum series, all fountain pens have a black grip. However, the nibs with the ink guide have a classic design. The shape of the tapered clip is just as classic. All fountain pens have a gold-plated decorative ring on the barrel opening to the grip. The fountain pens with a gold nib (14-carat gold nib) are also adorned with the cap opening. Production was discontinued after a short time, so these fountain pens are very rare.
