Important figures of the Mbala tribe (DR Congo) are generally called "pindi" and belong to a chiefs treasure. This type of object is a sacred symbole of authority.
The Drum player, Mbundi Ngoma, is often accompanied by a maternity statue which together form a pair of emblematic sculptures attributed to the Mbala chief during his enthronement.
