A set of nine books in the series The Complete Collection of Contemporary Japanese Photography, a collection of works published by Sogensha in the late 1950s after the war. This collection of pre-war and post-war Japanese photobooks was introduced in The Japanese Photobook 1912-1990 (2017), co-authored by leading Japanese photography historians Ryuichi Kaneko and Manfred Heiting. Tsutomu Watanabe and Hiromichi Shigemori supervised this valuable series of ‘large-format’ ‘photogravure’ prints of representative works by Kimura Ihei, Domon Ken and even Hiroshi Hamaya.
