The Chartreuse liqueur dates back to 1605, when in a monastery near Paris the monks received as a gift from the marshal of Henry IV a manuscript bearing the recipe of an alchemist with a great knowledge of herbs and the ability to treat them to create a beneficial remedy.

After years of trying to interpret the manuscript, the first practical formula for the reproduction of this long-life Elixir was designed in the early 1700s. Today this recipe is reproduced exclusively by the monks of Chartreuse, who refer to the ancient manuscript to recreate what is now called the plant Elixir of the Grand-Chartreuse.

The secret recipe contains 130 herbs that are macerated in quality alcohol and then distilled. We then aging in oak stems, for a minimum of three years, in the evocative wineries of Voiron.

Chartreuse Jaune is the sweetest version of the famous Chartreuse Verte, now available with a higher gradation (43° instead of the previous 40°) that enhances the aromatic fan.
To be drunk as a digestive after dinner or on an ice base. It's also great for its use in cocktail making.
