Reprint of the fragment of "El descando del escultor" from the graphic work Suite Vollard 1933 by Pablo Picasso.

Pablo Picasso (Malaga, 1881-Mougins, 1973) always gave great importance to his graphic work, which constitutes, by itself, a fundamental chapter of his plastic production. Proof of this is that from 1899 to 1972 he worked uninterruptedly in this medium, producing around 2200 engravings, often organized in series. Systematically dated, they constitute almost a personal diary and allow us to follow the artist's career in detail. Because of his constant research and his mastery of all techniques, Picasso is considered one of the most extraordinary engravers of all time.

The Vollard Suite consists of 100 etchings made by Picasso between 1930 and 1936. The artist gave the first 97 copperplate prints in 1937 to the French art dealer Ambroise Vollard in exchange for a large number of paintings for his private collection. The series covers a wide variety of themes from the Picassian universe and each print becomes comprehensible when analyzed in the context of the entire series. Four main themes can be seen: "The Sculptor's Studio", "The Minotaur", "Rembrandt" and "The Battle of Love". In 1937 Picasso added the three portraits of Vollard that complete the series in which he used, with innovation and mastery, different copper engraving techniques: mainly etching, but also drypoint, burin and aquatint.

In 1939 Roger Lacourière began to print the definitive edition. Of the 100 prints, 43 are signed in pencil by Picasso. In 1956 the plates were scratched and were deposited in the Lacourière-Frélaut workshop, and then passed to the collection of the Musée Picasso in Paris, where they are preserved.

Tout-à-fait conforme à la description, je suis très heureux de mon achat. Je trouve que 50 Euros de frais d'envoi est un peu trop élevé mais je ne connais pas les cours. Gracias
