A rare tripod incense burner from the Jiajing/Wanli period, Ming dynasty.
The compressed globular body supported on three cabriole legs. The short neck joining the shoulder to the edge of the everted flat rim. The body of the censer is decorated with floral medallions and cloud-scrolls, the neck with ribbon patterns and the sloping rim also with cloud-scrolls. The feet decorated with coin symbols. All done in a purple-overtoned, violet blue typical of the Jiajing era, also known as ‘Muslim Blue’ (huiqing).

Condition: In overall good condition; the rim has minor fritting, the censer shows heavy wear/scratches and dirt/staining. No restorations or other damage. UV checked.
