Egyptian Rival Scarabs in Revival Silver Mounts (3)

This trio features faience scarabs, modelled in the round, with an upper face adorned with a lustrous turquoise glaze, while the lower side remains flat and engraved. The scarab is set in a silver pendant mount featuring a twisted rope border and a suspension loop.
The Egyptian Revival, a cultural and artistic movement, emerged during the 19th and early 20th centuries, characterized by a renewed interest in ancient Egyptian aesthetics and motifs. This revival was fueled by a fascination with Egyptian archaeological discoveries, such as the Rosetta Stone, which contributed to a broader understanding of hieroglyphs and Egyptian iconography.
