OSKAR ZIĘTA is an architect, artist and process designer. He holds a doctorate from the Eidgenössische Technische Hochschule in Zürich, where he worked as a research assistant at the department of CAAD (Computer Aided Architectural Design).
He invented the FIDU – Frei Innen Druck Umformung (Free Inner Pressure Deformation) technology, which he uses in furniture and interior design, as well as in sculptures. His NAWA sculpture on Daliowa Island, Wrocław, was nominated for the prestigious European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture – Mies van der Rohe Award.
His famous Ploop stool is in the collections of international museums, including the permanent collection of the Pompidou Centre in Paris, where it is presented as one of the twelve chairs that revolutionized contemporary design.
He has received many awards, including: Design Preis Schweiz, 2008; Red Dot Design Award, 2008; Materialica Design Award, 2009; German Design Award, 2009; Audi Mentor Prize by A&W, 2011.
