This panel immerses us in the tense atmosphere of "La Iguana". A colorful mix of anthropomorphic silhouettes fills the space, each revealing distinct personalities through animal-like appearances. Narrative tension is palpable in exchanged glances and postures of guests. Poli, the imposing iguana boss, commands the scene with his corpulent figure and meditative expression, granting undisputed authority. Dim lighting adds to the sensation of a parallel world, where cunning prevails and stories are woven in cigarette smoke and whispered confidences. Blacksad stories are set in late 1950s America and rendered in a film noir style. All characters are anthropomorphic animals whose species reflect their personality and role in the story. Natalia Willford is a famous actress and Blacksad was once her bodyguard.

Guarnido collaborated on several fanzines and produced work for Marvel Comics. He worked for Disney Studios in France. He has won several awards and rewards, including three Eisner Award nominations in 2004, two Eisner Award wins in 2013, and an Angoulême Prize for Artwork. His artworks are highly appreciated by collectors around the world.
