[Edward VII era] 22 page quarto sized book form leather-bound manuscript Marriage Settlement, on vellum, with printed double ruled red margins, linen lining papers and blanks at end. The indenture, dated 20th October 1908 between Hugh Branston Warwick of Clarence Barracks in the County Borough of Portsmouth, a Lieutenant in the Royal Garrison Artillery of the first part, Frances Laura Pratt of 1 Collingham Place, South Kensington in the County of Middlesex, spinster, of the second part, William Simpson Pratt of Salisbury in the County of Wilts, C.B. a Surgeon General in His Majesty's Army and Principal Medical Officer Southern Command, father of the said Frances Laura Pratt, of the third part, Richard Huskinson Warwick of Burgage Manor, Southwell, in the County of Nottingham, Esquire, Father of the said Hugh Branston Warwick, of the fourth part and Philip Huskinson Warwick of Burgage Manor aforesaid, Esquire, and John Pickard Becher of Southwell aforesaid, Solicitor, of the fifth part. The indenture deals with various policies of insurance, with the sums assured totalling £4,000, with proceeds being payable to Hugh Branston Warwick during the course of his life, his wife Frances Lara Pratt and her assigns during her life if she survives him, and with provision made for proceeds to be paid to any children arising from the marriage. The indenture of course is involved and lengthy and needs to be read. On the final four of twenty-two pages is an additional indenture, dated 25th February 1916 between Hugh Branston Warwick and Frances Laura Warwick his wife of the first part, the before mentioned Philip Huskinson Warwick of the second part and William Arthur Warwick of Balderton Hall near Newark in the County of Nottingham, Gentleman of the third part. This being the appointment of William Arthur Warwick Esquire as Trustee in place of John Pickard Becher Esquire, deceased. This indenture deals with stocks held in various media. The indenture is in very good condition, clean and bright, with good clear manuscript throughout. The leather book binding is also in very good condition, just slight scuffing to the spine head and foot ends and corners, with the gilt lettering pieces and borders almost completely intact. The joints and inner hinges are sound, and the pages are firmly bound. The marriage settlement comes with six red wax seals and two pre-printed red duty and tax stamps. The appointment of trustee comes with four red wax seals and one pre-printed red tax stamp. The book measures 29 cm x 23.5 cm
