Enrico Hohenberger (1834 - 1897) - Hunting still life
Oil on board by Italian painter Enrico Hohenberger (1834-1897). Enrico Hohenberger, who primarily painted still lifes, arranged the present painting around a colorful duck and bird in the center. EH born in the harbor town Triest, he approached art under the guidance of his fellow citizen Francesco Malacrea, sharing themes related to still lifes with fruit and flowers in the Flemish style, and later moving on to painting the sea. Like his mentor, he was active in the Trieste area and in Friuli in general, where he left numerous works, still lifes with fruit and flowers and sailors with ships, many of which are on public display in Italy, in Trieste, in the Revoltella Museum, but mainly in private collections in Trieste and Austria. In recent years, he has been involved in the activities of the Trieste Art Circle and also approached photography by opening a photography studio in the city.
Signed and dated 'EH 90' lower right (1890 - very good condition). Dimensions: 70 x 56 x 5 cm, frame: 51 x 37 cm.
