Central Weather Bureau (ed) - Chinese Clouds - 1972

The book opens with a photograph of high, wispy clouds in a blue sky above Tiananmen. The first part of the book is purely textual, outlining the dynamics of weather systems and describing the process of formation of the main cloud types. A table of cloud types is included, with Chinese and Latin names as well as standard abbreviated forms. The rest of the book is given over to colored photographs of clouds, detailing precisely when and where each photo was taken, and usually juxtaposing a line drawing to explain particular features of the cloud in question. Although this book would obviously appeal to those interested in meteorology, the stunning photographs, one to a page, would appeal also to art lovers.
