It is a semi-automatic, so you have to bring the arm above the record, then the plateau will start to turn (if the Power button has been set to "On" of course), and at the end of the record the arm will return to rest position.
Also the arm lift still works just as smoothly as the first day, and the arm drops nice and slow on the record to prevent any needle damage.
The player is quartz controlled, runs stable, and is on the correct speed after just half a rotation.
