Jewel of French mineralogy, the Auvergne blue fluorite is sought after by collectors from all around the world.
Le Beix mine, near the Herment village, was operated from the end of the XIXth century to 1977 and is the most famous blue fluorite locality in the country.
Shortly after the shut down in 1977-1979, a group of miners extracted several pockets of blue fluorite before these treasures became totally inaccessible: these finds were source for a number of very nice specimens and made this small fluor mine internationally famous.
Here is a wonderful and very unusual specimen from Le Beix mine, featuring sky blue fluorite cubes in combination with small yellow barytes!
The specimen displays an open geode of super glossy and clean cubes of fluorite up to 4 cm edge, making for a superb 'crystalline ice' effect, with the bottom area being completely recrystallized with a tiny generation of purple fluorite.
On the purple fluorite, you can notice scattered crystals of yellow baryte, which is quite unusual in Le Beix: actually this is the first specimen showcasing this combination I have had and offer for sale.
A very nice, aesthetic clear blue fluorite displaying a rare combination with baryte from the famous Le Beix mine!
