NWA 13369 Martian : 1.29g
NWA 13715 Lunar : 1.45g
Martian meteorite pecimen is a slice of the shergottite meteorite NWA 13369, composed of pyronexe and olivines. It is the result of the first stage of a fractionnal crystalisation of a magma (the olivines crystalised first, then the remainig interstitial liquid crystalised later as pyroxene, at lower temperature), and is a "primitive" shergottite, to be opposed to the evolved ones that are lacking olivines. By nature this rock is a peridotite (Mars mantle) and would belong to the Lherzolite group if the martian rock classification was following the Earth one.
Lunar meteorite specimen is a slice of NWA 13715, classified as a feldspathic breccia, rich in mineral plagioclase. Most of the lunar crust, that part called the Feldspathic Highlands Terrane or simply the feldspathic highlands (the light-colored material as seen from Earth), consists of rocks that are rich in a particular variety of plagioclase feldspar known as anorthite.
