Fordítás megtekintéseLucio Fontana - Concetto spaziale, Attese, 1965
Nr. 91999899
Poster reprint of Lucio Fontana /Concetto spaziale, Attese, 1965
LUCIO FONTANA:
What if instead of a brush we used a knife? The space of the canvas would be affected, even creating a new pictorial dimension, not to say sculptural?
This is what the Italian-Argentine Lucio Fontana was doing: piercing, cracking and damaging canvases. Fontana was looking for a new spatial definition for the pictorial medium and it seems that he found it with the abolition of illusory space and its substitution by real space. A painting that "exists", so to speak. He called all this Spatialism.
Fontana was an Italian born in Argentina. An ordinary guy who even went to fight for others in World War I. He was lucky there and was only wounded. There he was lucky and was only wounded.
In the 1920s he went to his native Argentina and there he worked as a sculptor with his father, and we suppose that influenced the future art of the young Fontana, who began to unite, at least unconsciously, concepts of sculpture and painting. Years later he would return to Europe to put into practice his White Manifesto (1946), in which he says that "matter, color and sound in movement are the phenomena whose simultaneous development integrates the new art".
It was not until the 1950s that this new art became world famous. The era of la dolce vita brought his popular series of slashes, consisting of holes or slashes on the canvas of his paintings.
They are monochromatic canvases, punished with buchi and tagli (holes and cuts), that speak to us, among other things, of what real space is, of the material for its conceptual use, of the object, of the individual gesture, of violence....
Size: 70 x 50 cm.
