The classic and elusive to obtain ultimate reference book on the glass from Francis Theodore Legras.

The authoritative reference book for his glass is “Legras : Verrier Artistique et Populaire Française” by Michel and Vitrat,

Marie-Flancoise & Jean Francois Michel and Dominique & Jean Vitrat,

This is a very hard to obtain volume and retails at well over €350 when obtainable used.

Perfect condition.

This book with 380 full color pages and great illustrations presents the famous French glass and crystal factory Legras.

While Gallé, Daum and other glassmakers of Lorraine, were painted and repainted by books as perfect as their works of glass, Legras vase was broken into a thousand pieces.

Many were spotted and recognized by glass experts: bottles with subjects, catalogues, vases of Montjoye, engraved cups, were so many pieces, but no synthesis existed.

Through this book, the vase is brilliantly and scientifically restored.

Opaline pieces with a Delft decor, leg, Montjoye or Sargel signatures are assigned correctly and this book definitely attributed to Legras vases mistakenly called "Clichy".

On the one hand, Legras is now a flesh and blood, out of his native Vosges and became the Emperor of Saint-Denis.

He even found his real name, François-Théodore (although many still name him Auguste).

On the other hand, its entire work wonderfully eclectic increased both scrutinized and under the eye of the documented observer.

In these pages, the reader will be transported from the Art Nouveau to the Art Deco.
Through this photographic panorama and this comprehensive illustrated catalogue, he will be able to dominate the production of the Master of this people and artistic glassware, that flourished from Western Europe to Turkey and the Americas, Empire bases admittedly fragile (He disappeared after the Great War), but whose artistic and archaeological remains manage to move and excite.

This book contains the main marks, signatures and distinctive signs.
