You are bidding on an earthenware jug from the historical Avanos region, Cappadocia, Turkey. It is a beautiful minimalistic design object, with great details due to its handcrafted artisan craftsmanship. The jug consists of a range of delicate colours and textures due to the unique qualities of Avanos' Red Clay. Pottery has been produced in this region as far back as around 2000 BC, the time of the Hittites.
The jug is marked 'Körükçü Avanos' on the bottom. Its design is reminiscent of vintage Turkish oil vessels and pinched jugs.
The jug is in very good vintage condition.
