18th century Italian School - Carlo Dolci (Italian, 1616-1686) After Title: The Penitent Magdalene Medium : Oil on Canvas Provenance:: From the private collection of a retired UK fine art lecturer. Overall size framed 110 cm x 94 cm x 10 cm and the painting measuring 73 cm x 58 cm A lovely circa mid 18th century Italian School oil on lined canvas early version of The Penitent Magdalene After Dolci's original which is held in the Uffizi Gallery, Florence. Carlo Dolci was an Italian painter of the Baroque period, active mainly in Florence, known for highly finished religious pictures, often repeated in many versions. Condition Report: In very fine condition. The canvas was lined circa 120 years ago there are scarred areas of background retouching mainly to the bottom part of the painting and lower right hand corner the paint surface is stable and the canvas in good tension. There is fine craquelure through not noticeable when hung. Note the 18th -19th Florentine frame is digitally superimposed onto the painting image but will be included as a gift and is a very valuable item in its own right. Frames of this quality typically sell for between 500 and 1,000 euros. It is a genuine 18-19th century Florentine frame. We will need to fit a gilt coloured aperture before sending the painting framed and the images are to help illustrate how the painting will look framed . All shipping is professionally packed. .The Brexit situation has eased considerably and assuming driver shortages don't continue well into 2022 we have been getting most paintings shipped to most parts of the Eu with 5 working days but we cannot guarantee this due to current conditions. Also refer to the shipping costs and note the auctioneers disclaimer regarding potential customs charges .
