This classic, well-known banker's desk lamp / notary lamp was made in the 1920s in Germany by the HORAX company. The same model was produced by Erpé in Belgium. This specimen is in working condition and with remarkable little signs of age.

When I first got the lamp, it was covered in a brown-ish layer that was -in my opinion- caused by regular smoking of the previous owners throughout the roughly 100 year life of the lamp. But after a thorough cleaning, I came to realize that this very layer helped preserve the lamp and prevent the surface from rusting.

The dark-aquamarine enamelled lampshade is still pretty much in a perfect state. The body and sleek cast iron base are in a great condition, with only some small spots at the very base of the lamp where the paint came off. This lamp is equipped with a brass and porcelain fitting (E27), with a working built-in switch. The 110 cm electrical cord is safe and tested.

And a small extra detail, for those that are wondering why there is a small hole in the back of the base of the lamp: This was factory-designed, so that you can hang the lamp from the wall, and use it as a wall-lamp.

A rare, beautiful desk lamp in an exceptional condition, especially considering its age.
