While Jesus is still near Jerusalem, various Jews come to him. Some want to learn from it, others to experience it. One of them, who was an expert, asked him the question, "Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?"

Jesus understands that he is not asking simply out of curiosity. The man may be trying to get him to say something that will affect the Jews. Seeing that the man already has an opinion, Jesus skillfully gets him to reveal what he thinks.

Jesus, without insulting the man, tells a parable: "As he was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, a man fell into the hands of robbers, who robbed him, stabbed him, and went away, leaving him lying half dead." priest, but when he saw him , crossed over to the opposite side. And a Levite came to that place, and when he saw him, he crossed over to the other side. But a Samaritan who was traveling that way came to him, and when he saw him, he felt sorry for him.

How does the Samaritan help the wounded Jew? Jesus continues: “He approached him, bound up his wounds, pouring oil and wine on them. Then he put him on his own cattle and drove him to an inn, where he took care of him. The next day he took out two dinars, gave them to the innkeeper, and said, "Take care of him, and whatever you spend in excess, I will pay you when I return."

As the Great Teacher Jesus finished his story, he asked the man this thought-provoking question: "Which of these three do you think proved a neighbor to the man who had fallen into the hands of robbers?" The man was probably embarrassed to answer: "The Samaritan," therefore, says, "He who was kind to him." Then Jesus makes very clear what the lesson of the story is when he says to him, "Go and do likewise."

The lesson is that we just have to be kind, help each other and do the right thing.
