“In this painting, Follow You Into the Dark, I wanted to explore the idea of finding comfort in something tangible, like playing music or writing. By contrasting the vibrant face with the dark surroundings, I aimed to express how creativity and self-expression can offer a sense of control or solace in uncertain times. It brings life. It makes your blood run faster. Lately, I’ve been drawing a lot of inspiration from the CoBrA movement, particularly the works of Karel Appel. This painting is no exception.”
NIKKE NAEME (1984) is a multidisciplinary artist from the Netherlands. He is an observer of the human psyche and behavior, with a focus on the dark side. Shortcomings, flaws and doubt are recurring themes in his work. Always looking for flip sides, both as a person and as an artist, a slightly schizophrenic character emerges.
NIKKE’s work is represented in hundreds of private collections all over the world. His work is on continuously display in Amsterdam. NIKKE’s fanbase of collectors is growing fast. The value of his works is increasing and will continue to rise.
