With a single begging bowl, one can seek food from a thousand homes. Alone, I travel a road that stretches ten thousand miles. Though I rarely greet those I meet with joy, I simply follow the flow of clouds, walking wherever my spirit leads.

Legendary Buddhist monk who is said to have existed in
Mingzhou (present-day Ningbo City, Zhejiang Province, China)
from the end of the Tang Dynasty to the Five Dynasties Period.
He is often depicted as a drum-bellied monk with a large bag on
his back.
In Japan, he is worshipped as one of the seven gods of good
fortune.

Biography
Tomioaka Tessai (1836-1924)
Born in 1836 in Kyoto, Tomioka Tessai was a prominent Japanese painter known for his versatility in painting landscapes, birds and flowers, and figures.
He excelled in poetry and calligraphy, residing in Kyoto throughout his life.
Tessai left behind over 20,000 artworks, developing a unique style in both ink and color paintings during his later years. He died at the age of 89 in 1924.
