・International Buyers: Import duties, taxes, and charges are not included in the item price or shipping charges. These charges are the buyer’s responsibility.
・Please check with your country’s customs office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to bidding/buying. These duties are paid to your country's customs office and not to us. Prompt payment of these fees is necessary to ensure delivery of your item.
・We deeply value your understanding regarding the blade's export process. The duration to secure an export permit might extend up to a month, and shipping, based on the destination, could take an additional month. In some instances, sea freight may be chosen, which might lengthen the delivery period to 2-3 months.
・Considering the diligence required for export permit procedures, we'd like to emphasize the importance of commitment after purchase. If the auction is annulled post-confirmation, there's a need to retract the said permit. In such situations, to cover administrative efforts, a fee equating to 10% of the auction's final amount would be requested via PayPal.
・We kindly request bids from those who fully acknowledge these conditions. Please be informed that the original registration document is required to be returned to official authorities, so a copy will be provided with the sword.
・Austria, Belgium, and UK prohibits the import of swords, so please refrain from bidding.
【Product details】
This stunning wakizashi features a scabbard crafted with an exquisite combination of mother-of-pearl inlay and nashiji lacquer techniques, resulting in a brilliantly radiant finish. The mother-of-pearl inlay is a decorative technique where pieces of iridescent shell, often abalone or other pearlescent shells, are cut and set into the carved surface of the wood or lacquer. The scabbard’s nashiji (pear skin) finish is achieved by applying lacquer to the surface of the object and sprinkling fine gold, silver, or tin powders over it. The transparent lacquer coating that follows gives it a texture similar to the skin of a pear, hence the name.
The iron tsuba (sword guard) is round in shape with an openwork cross design, often symbolizing protection and strength.
A copy of the Firearms and Swords Registration Certificate is included, as the original will be returned to the authorities. The certificate details are as follows: Registration Number Fukushima Prefecture No. 33828; Type: Wakizashi; Length: 46.1 cm; Curvature: 1 cm; Peg Hole: 1; Inscription: Unsigned; Date of Issue: August 1, 1969.
The tsuba is slightly loose and may shift. The pommel is detached but secured with thread. The blade has a few extremely small nicks, minor scratches, and areas of rust. The scabbard shows signs of wear, scratches, and minor chipping of lacquer due to age. The tsuba has rust, and the metal fittings display patina and discoloration. A bag is included for storage. The stand is not included. Please refer to the photos for a detailed view of the condition.
Length of the blade: 58 cm
Total length including scabbard: 70 cm
